Chapter 7: Pity

Jaymz stood w/ the broken sledgehammer in his shaken paws. He gazed down at the damage he'd done to Crook, who laid motionless before his feet. Jaymz dropped the hammer, his breathing was shallow. His heart felt as though it was about to burst from his chest. He could hear every beat as though time was standing still.

"Why?" He pondered, "I... I didn't want to."

Natashia stepped closer towards her older brother and Crook, kneeling down. She lifted Crook's head. A small drop of blood trickled down, seeping from his mouth. Natashia checked his pulse, "He's still alive."

Jaymz stood motionless, like a statue, staring at Crook. His paws became a beacon of sweat as he realized what he was capable of. His heart pounded. His wounds bumped from his skin. He had nothing but pity for the enemy he hadn't known before today.

Natashia lifted Crook off the ground. She cupped her arms around his head and locked her paws, "He... has to die for this." Natashia then proceeded in twisting Crook's head.

"NO!" Jaymz shouted, begging his sister to not commence.

Natashia looked up, a bit shocked, ""Jaymz?"

"Let... Let him go." Jaymz begged, looking into Natashia's eyes, "Just... let him go."

"Are you sure about this? Look what he did to our mother!" Natashia growled, pointing at a hanging, unconscious Angelica.

Jaymz shook his weary head, "Ev... Everyone deserves a second chance... I was granted one when Sean rescued me."

"You... were a slave, sugar. That's different then this." Natashia stated.

"Please... I can't bear any more of this." Jaymz closed his eyes, trying to hold back more tears.

Natashia could see the pain Jaymz was going through. She figured he had a good reason in doing what he did, "I understand." She then dropped Crook's body, allowing him to keep his life.

Jaymz began to sniffle, wiping the water from his nose, "Thank you, sis..." He jumped at Natashia, wrapping his arms around her. She returned the embrace, hugging her brother for the first time.

Then then proceeded in cutting Angelica's restraints and removed the knife from her breast. She sat in a pool of her own blood as Natashia surveyed the damage.

"She's has some glands severed." Natashia huffed, "C'mon, Jaymz, help me get her to her feet."

Angelica opened her eyes, looking up at her offspring, "Well... Too bad... your father isn't here..." She groaned.

"Easy, mommy. Shh... Don't talk, save your strength!" Jaymz wept, trying to be strong for his mother.

"C'mon, sug, we're getting you out of here." Natashia lifted Angelica off the ground.

"GAHH!!!" Angelica cried out in pain. Her wound began to bleed out even more then before. Jaymz quickly grabbed it, trying to hold the fresh cut closed. Angelica gritted her teeth.

"If we don't get her out of here, she's in big trouble!" Natashia explained, "She needs to get to vet as soon as possible!"

"Mommy, hold on!" Jaymz pleaded to his suffering mother, "We'll... We'll get you to Dr. Harken!" Tears began to roll down his furry cheeks. Though growing up and being abused by his mother emotionally, sexually and physically, it pained Jaymz to see his mom in such a torturous state. He'd always loved his mother, even when she'd given up on him. It was such a shame for this to happen to her while she did her best on this day to make amends w/ her son.

The three of them took a steady pace, heading for the door leading to the hallway, until a voice crackled from behind them.

"You're... not leaving, are you?!"

Natashia turned her head in a flash, "Oh my.... Crook!"

"I'd hate to... have to see you leave..." Crook's voice crackled as he held out a lit lighter in front of him, showing the three.

"That's... my lighter!" Jaymz chimed in, "No... C... Crook, you wouldn't!"

The smell of the gasoline Jaymz soaked the room in earlier was stronger then ever...
