[link]Final Chapter: Moving On
Jaymz opened his eyes, his vision was still a bit hazy as he wiped the sleep from them. He took a glance around the room. He was in a soft, warm bed. It felt good against his battered skin. He soon realized it was a hospital he was in. He let out a small cough, his mouth was very dry.
"Hey, champ." A feminine voice called to him.
"T... Terra?" Jaymz's voice was broken a bit, "W... Where am I?"
"Dr. Harken's. You're going to be alright... How do you feel?" Terra asked.
Jaymz attempted to move his stiffened muscles. Pain shot up through his body as he raised his head. He let out a small yelp, resting his head on the pillow beneath him.
"Take it easy." Terra warned, stroking Jaymz's golden hair through her fingers, "Your sister Natashia brought you here after the explosion. You're one lucky mutt. She managed to carry both you AND your mother and flag down help."
"M... Mommy..." Jaymz coughed out, "Where's my mom?"
"She's alright, she's in the room across from us recovering from her... wounds." Terra explained.
Jaymz's expression saddened, his eyes grew heavy, "M... Mommy... I... I let her down. Those... Those people... They forced me to... to RAPE my own mother!"
"Shh, shh. You don't need to worry about those people, they're... gone, now." Terra tried to calm the crying fur, but Jaymz continued.
"What... What if she becomes... pregnant?! I... I'm so scared right now!" Jaymz's breathing began to quicken as he started to panic a little, "I... I'm not ready for that..."
"We'll worry about that when the time comes." Terra sighed, "Right now you need to rest, okay?"
"Is... Is my dad here?" Jaymz blurted out, "I... I need to see my dad!"
Terra lowered her head, resting her paw on Jaymz's chest softly, "No. He left w/ Sean and Natashia. I'm... not sure when they're coming back."
Tears began to roll in streams down Jaymz's face. He couldn't put words together to express what he was feeling right now. He took in a large gulp. He needed his father right now more then ever, and he AND Sean were both gone.
"We'll talk about it later, once you're well. I swear. You should be released in a few days. Until then, be strong for me, okay?" Terra smiled, trying her best to cheer Jaymz up.
"W... Where's my bandanna?" Jaymz asked, noticing his head band wasn't on his head.
"All of your things are on that table over there." Terra pointed out, "Everything's fine, don't worry."
"N... No it's not. I... I made a mess of things... AGAIN. What... What have I done in my life to deserve this? To deserve the trials put... put before me? What?" Jaymz wept, "First, I'm attacked by some psycho, THEN my own family leaves me!"
"Jaymz, that's... that's not all... Vail is gone, too." Terra said w/ a heavy weight on her heart, "You no longer have a mate anymore."
Jaymz closed his eyes, allowing the tears to pour from his eyes. Such burdens for one to carry isn't fair, at least, that's what Jaymz thought. His life had been one disappointment after another, and when things began looking up, it was right in the gutter again, "Gimme a break." He cackled sadly, "Who do I even have left? I... I can't do this alone."
Terra grinned, trying to comfort Jaymz, "I'm here for you... And so is your mother. We'll get through this. Your dad, sister and brother... They needed to take care of something, that's all. They'll be back, okay? And I'm sure a lovable furry like yourself will find a new mate no problem! Don't... Don't roll over like this. Don't give in."
"I tried so hard to... to fix my life... to stop the nightmares... to actually get a decent nights sleep w/out waking up screaming... I thought going back to the old slave camp where I was imprisoned would get my life back on track." Jaymz cried out.
"Jaymz..." Terra began, "You can't relive the past... or fix it."
"What... do you mean?" Jaymz questioned, puzzled at Terra's response.
"Sometimes, to forget the past..." Terra smiled at the weeping Jaymz, "You don't need to try and relive it or fix it... Sometimes... you need to let it go."
